Touching Film for TENA Goes Behind Closed Doors to Show the Reality of Family Carers

Around one in ten people already look after a loved one [1], yet new research conducted by Essity owned incontinence brand TENA reveals that only 50% of people who provided extended family care considered themselves a ‘carer’. This lack of perception is largely down to those doing the care not acknowledging themselves as ‘carers’ and, as a result, they feel more alone and unaware of the support available. The research, conducted with Ketchum, is part of TENA’s new global campaign #NoLoveLikeIt, which sees the brand also partnering with Carers UK. Committed to providing care for both caregiver and receiver, TENA delved deep into qualitative and quantitative research to understand the realities of caring, which will become a reality for most of us at some point, as populations age and more care is provided in home by families. Renewi, Essity Form Recycling Partnership in the Netherlands

International waste-to-product company, Renewi plc  and Essity, a leading hygiene and health company, are developing an innovative solution for the processing of used baby nappies and incontinence materials from the care sector and municipalities in the Netherlands.  Renewi and Essity, a producer of well-known branded products such as TENA and Libero, are developing a sustainable solution to recycle nappies and incontinence materials in an effort to reduce the amount of these products sent to incineration in the Netherlands each year. Currently, about 400,000 tons of absorbent products, between 5-8% of residual waste, is  sent to incineration per year. The recycling of these nappies and incontinence materials would make a significant contribution to the ambitious goals of the Dutch government which aims to increase recycling rates for household waste to 75% in 2020 and to achieve a full circular economy without any waste by 2050. SCA to Split Into Two Companies

SCA, a company know in the HME industry for its hygiene and incontinence products, such as TENA, will be splitting into two companies, SCA and Essity, with Essity being the company working in the healthcare market. SCA was founded 1929 in Sweden as a forest products company, and over the years the company not only expanded into the international market, but diversified its range of offerings to include incontinence products and other offerings. Most recently, it acquired well-known BSN medical. Eventually, SCA’s health offerings began to eclipse its forest products division. As of 2016, 86 percent of SCA serves the global hygiene and health market, while only 14 percent offers forest products. Moreover, synergies between the two operations have diminished over time, according to SCA.  Read more.
