Touching Film for TENA Goes Behind Closed Doors to Show the Reality of Family Carers

Around one in ten people already look after a loved one [1], yet new research conducted by Essity owned incontinence brand TENA reveals that only 50% of people who provided extended family care considered themselves a ‘carer’. This lack of perception is largely down to those doing the care not acknowledging themselves as ‘carers’ and, as a result, they feel more alone and unaware of the support available. The research, conducted with Ketchum, is part of TENA’s new global campaign #NoLoveLikeIt, which sees the brand also partnering with Carers UK. PBE, Elizabeth Dole Foundation Exceed Goal to Benefit Veterans, Caregivers by Nearly $100,000

Ohio-based incontinence product manufacturer Principle Business Enterprises, Inc. (PBE), and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, a Washington, DC, nonprofit that advocates for military caregivers, exceeded their joint goal for a year-long fundraising drive, with contributions totaling $295,000 to provide essential relief to these “Hidden Heroes.”  Earmarked for the foundation’s “Respite Relief for Military and Veteran Caregivers” program that gives qualifying caretakers a much-needed break, the money will directly benefit an estimated 340 military families and indirectly impact more than 1000 individuals. Common Problems Still Challenge Caregivers When It Comes to Incontinence Treatment

Skilled nursing educators worth their mettle today will strongly warn bedside caregivers to throw out any preconceived notions they may have about incontinence. A big one is the widely disproved notion that incontinence is an “old person’s disease.” Another one is that “incontinence cannot be cured.” In a recent study, in fact, significant numbers of professional nurses and a vast majority of nurse assistants told Indiana University researchers they believed bladder disorders are a normal part of aging. Time and again, researchers have refuted incontinence mythology. Along the way, their efforts all too often show how frail elderly individuals can quickly tumble down a path of declining health, endless indignities and painful bed sores.
